Meme
"Everyone has things they blog about. Everyone has things they don't blog about. Challenge me out of my comfort zone by telling me something I don't blog about, but you'd like to hear about, and I'll write a post about it."

I've belatedly picked this meme up from the Lancaster crewe - it's a lot more fun that it appears....

Pay It Forward
I will send a handmade gift to the first 5 people who leave a comment here on my website.

I don’t yet know what that gift will be - it could be anything: cloth, metal, paper, wood, a song, anything goes - but you will receive it within 365 days. Bear in mind I am significantly less talented than many of my friends so this will be something I can make and to my ability. Hopefully it will be something you like, but I make no promises.

The only thing you have to do in return is "pay it forward" by making a similar agreement on your blog.

What does a Neil Gaiman smell like...?
For [info]bodybag_pilgrim : Neil Gaiman scents

And from the keyboard of Mr Gaiman himself, teasers for yet more....

But what do they smell like?! I have yet to try any, but have several on order (Mr Ibis, Mama-Ji, Mr Jacquel, Mr Nancy, Spider). And maybe I'll send them southwards for sniffies ;)

In the meantime, there's a review board for the scents over here.

Lancaster - lunch on Sunday!
Mish tells me that we will be camping out at the Bamboo Gardens all of Sunday afternoon - I'll be there from 1pm for the rest of the afternoon.

I'm arriving on Saturday evening but intending to leave on Sunday afternoon on the 6.30pm train/bus/vehicular transport up the road.

Hoping to see lots of lovely people there, and I'm sorry I can't stay longer!

PS - if I even mention work while I'm south, you have my permission to shut me up ;)

Lancaster, ahoy!
Coming to Lancaster next weekend; really very very excited about seeing people again. I may not have mentioned it, but there have been many times over the last three years when I wanted to jump on a train to Lancaster just for the quality of hugs I'm guaranteed down there.

And yes, the train I've booked is meant to go over an area which currently looks like this but I'm good friends with the rail replacement buses now...

Kinda funny...
In 2007, galenx resolves to...
Cut down to ten evilbilbos a day.
Volunteer to spend time with yodaiams.
Get back in contact with some old supervillainess.
Find a better perfume.
Overcome my secret fear of laululintus.
Backup my bpal regularly.
Get your own New Year's Resolutions:

...especially as I've sort of been trying to do 2, 4 and 6 for a while now...

Just for fun...
What American accent do you have?
Your Result: The Midland

"You have a Midland accent" is just another way of saying "you don't have an accent." You probably are from the Midland (Pennsylvania, southern Ohio, southern Indiana, southern Illinois, and Missouri) but then for all we know you could be from Florida or Charleston or one of those big southern cities like Atlanta or Dallas. You have a good voice for TV and radio.

Robin'
So... is ANYONE still watching Robin Hood? I made it 'til episode 3 or 4 or somehting before deciding that waiting for it to get better was a fool's game and I'd rather do something else on a cold Saturday night in...

I did catch a little bit of last night's episode though. If we ignore the actors (why does every arab seem to have come from the indian subcontinent?!), the dialogue, the costume department (army fatigues in Sherwood?!), the plot, the heavy-handed analogies to the War on Terror, and just about everything else, then we can go :ooooh!: at the fights with two-sworded twirling...

I'm not sure if it's a big deal, [info]spike369, but we had a few corpses lying around by the end of the above fight. There were 4 women warriors despatched by a chap who had probably fought in 'Nam rather than the Crusades. Or does it only count if Robin does the killing..?

While looking for a picture to illustrate this post, I came across this gem:

"The BBC want Matt Lucas to play the role of Friar Tuck in the next series of Robin Hood."

They seriously want to make a second series?!

Colour me surprised...
So what age do YOU act??

You Are 27 Years Old

Under 12: You are a kid at heart. You still have an optimistic life view - and you look at the world with awe.

13-19: You are a teenager at heart. You question authority and are still trying to find your place in this world.

20-29: You are a twentysomething at heart. You feel excited about what's to come... love, work, and new experiences.

30-39: You are a thirtysomething at heart. You've had a taste of success and true love, but you want more!

40+: You are a mature adult. You've been through most of the ups and downs of life already. Now you get to sit back and relax.

Social network - can we get 7m?
Please join 'Lost' here : http://www.lost.eu/e77e - should take about a minute tops if you actually do the profile bit.

It's a social network to see the flow of invitations spreading out to 7 million people if possible; I just want to see how far I can push it out! :)

And so while I'm not writing your link somewhere interesting, that makes people stop and think, I'm definitely inviting friends/enemies/strangers/everyone else

Thanks, [info]mr_six

Hajj prep...
I'm going to hajj in :counts: less than 35 days. And counting!

Here's a short virtual tour for anyone who is interested:

http://www.channel4.com/culture/microsites/H/hajj/

This afternoon, I have the first tangible preparation: I'm going to my GP's practice to get shot with innoculations against hepatitis, meningitis and typhoid. And I can decide when I get there whether I want tetanus too, just for fun (ouch!) ;)

Only concern? I had the flu this weekend; if the nurse finds out, she'll send me away injection-less and I might not make the deadline. Although I need to have it at least three weeks before I go, and there's still five, so insha'allah (God willing) it's not going to be a big deal...
